Alba rosa - Pink morning dawn

The play portrays the personal upheaval of Anne, a young 26-year-old woman who decides to enter a convent. Her family and partner greet this decision with incomprehension and have great difficulty accepting her choice. The play follows Anne through this first-time experience. She learns to create the both fragile and improbable tie with the spiritual side that is in all of us. She is helped by other young women who, like her, are trying to respond to their « calling ».

The characters:

Creation:

First performed on 16 February 1998 by the Compagnie de la Lune at the Centre Culturel de Charleroi "L’Éden" under the direction of Michael Delaunoy. Cast: Laurence Vielle (Anne), Anne Beaupain (Laurence), Yannick Renier (Damien), Vincent Marganne (Martin), Patrick Simons (Grégoire), Marie Thys (Odile), Patricia Berti (Serena), Alain Eloy (La Joie-Titane), Stéphane Auberghen (The Woman who is going to Die). I started to write "Alba Rosa" under the title "L’aimant" in July 1989, following a visit to the Abbaye de Senanque. On 30 October 1994 la Compagnie de la Lune commissioned me to write "Alba Rosa" and asked Michael Delaunoy to direct the play. I should like to express my deepest thanks to Sister Fabienne, Madeleine Galais and those who helped me to learn about the pain of death through my writing. Tours : Brussels, Tournai ; Prix SACD 1998.
